I was quite impressed with the Switch port of the first Knights of the Old Republic, so I was eager to dive into the Obsidian-developed sequel. Players take on the role of this Exile as they soon find themselves neck-deep in a fight that spans numerous worlds and could very well affect the fates of every living creature in the known universe.

A former Jedi, a lone exile who lost their connection to the Force after following Revan and Malak in the Mandalorian Wars, wakes to a dangerously deteriorating situation on a mining colony in the Outer Rim. The last of the Jedi have gone into hiding due to a mysterious new threat that shows no qualms about killing entire planets to get at them, while the Republic is stretched far too thin and struggling to maintain even a semblance of order in a galaxy far, far away. The Sith Lords takes place only a few years after the events of the first Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which have become known as the Jedi Civil War. However, this initial base version of the RPG released on Nintendo Switch is more like a whisper fading into the emptiness of space rather than the reverberating roar it could so easily have been. Like the echoes often discussed in its plot, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords leaves an impression. The game has a strong sense of progression overall.Echoes are curious things: subtle, tiny whispers reverberating throughout the edges yet insistently powerful at the right frequency. Once that has been completed, players will receive their starship to traverse the stars and outrun those trying to hunt the Jedi down. One of the critical components of this game is finding the parts to rebuild a lightsaber to use in battle. Gamers who have never played the original won't feel lost while playing, but the story does continue from the previous game's events. This game picks up five years after the events of its predecessor. In KOTOR II, players begin as a Jedi who seems to have slight amnesia and will need to piece together their past.

Moreover, the choices made along the way will align players with either the light side of the Force or the dark side, which impacts gameplay later on. Gamers will need to fight through half a dozen planets' worth of enemies while meeting plenty of memorable characters throughout their journey. If players manage to escape the attack, they will make a crash landing on the planet Taris. When the game starts, players are thrown right into the middle of battle aboard the Ender Spire.
